Overall Review of the Grill2Go X200
The Char-Broil Grill2Go X200 is awesome! There is a lot to enjoy about this portable gas grill, particularly the construction and performance.
Made almost in its entirety by cast aluminum, it’s a well-built grill and ready to be very useful for on-the-go needs. The lid locks tightly in place, as expected and the legs and handles are sturdy to facilitate manipulation. Most portable grills are not as powerful as their full-sized counterparts, but this one is very strong. One drawback is that it is actually too powerful; because of the infrared technology. There is no way to lower the heat for slower grilling. When used, this grill had some extra maintenance needs and flare-ups issues.
When deciding whether to buy this grill (buy from Amazon), it’s helpful to review the positives and negatives of the Char-Broil Grill2Go X200 TRU-infrared.

The Char-Broil Grill2Go X200 is a nice grill but if you have read the reviews a repetitive compliant is that it is too hot. Absolutely agree but if you read the Sept. 8th 2015 review that recommends the Bayou classic control, take the advice. With this valve you can reduce the temp to whatever you want and can cook moist chicken breasts and perfect slow cooked ribs (350 deg on the temp gauge). Spend $20 extra bucks on this valve with adaptors and you will be glad you did. -Ritchie
After using the Char-Broil Grill2Go X200 grill for several months I still like it a lot. It cooks very hot so you do have to be careful. The grate does protect from flare ups and sears well. It does have to be cleaned well after each use because the slots in the grate get clogged. Overall it does a great job for what I bought it for, carrying in my motorhome. The case that’s made for it is also well worth the money. -Ed
I have been using The Char-Broil Grill2Go X200 on my boat for a year and a half now. It is a very durable grill easy to clean, it does require a good thorough hosing out with hot water every now and then as this grill really gets used. I use this with a 10 pound 2 gallon aluminum propane tank on my boat. When in dock I use it on a plastic table as it does not get too hot to damage the table and I have never felt worried of it being a fire hazard using it on my boat when out on the water. I have cooked steaks, pork, ribs, chicken, planked salmon, all kinds of vegetables- it does a great job with onions as they don’t fall through to the burner. If you can cook it on a grill this will do a great job grilling it. I’ve used a frying pan on this to cook bacon and eggs and it does an adequate job as a stove and you can close the top on your pan. The two latches hold the top securely down so that it makes it very easy to move around. It gets plenty hot to sear steaks and you can regulate the temperature very well to slow cook ribs. When it gets loaded with burned off residue, you do have to give it a good clean out but you have to do that with all grills periodically. This has been the best portable grill I have had and I have had many from the Cuisinart, O-Grill, Weber Q and many others, this just works better than they do. -Eric
